Updates from CPA Canada
The Chartered Professional Accountants of Newfoundland and Labrador (CPA NL) is focused on the protection of the public interest and the important national work that needs to be done, including standards setting. The unified CPA profession is strong and will continue to thrive under a new national collaboration framework that is currently being considered, including how membership in CPA Canada is structured.
Recently, CPA Canada announced an opportunity for CPAs in Ontario and Quebec to continue to access benefits and services and stay connected with CPA Canada. This follows the news that CPA Ontario and CPA Quebec will withdraw from the Collaboration Accord with CPA Canada as of December 2024. We will communicate any updates regarding CPA Canada’s fees and related matters in the coming months.
CPA NL values and remains committed to working in partnership with all CPA bodies in Canada and Bermuda. We are actively engaged in discussions with these bodies on important common interests, including standards setting. We play a leadership role in various committees and subcommittees nationally, ensuring the continued growth and success of the CPA profession.
CPA NL’s focus remains on protecting the public interest by regulating CPA members and students. The ongoing national discussions do not impact CPA NL’s ability to meet its legislated regulatory responsibilities and its day-to-day operations, or the ability of NL CPAs to perform their professional duties. CPA members in NL will continue to serve businesses without impact or interruption.
